Zinedine Zidane is a true icon. One of the game's most exciting and enthralling players and characters of all time, Zidane played for Cannes and Bordeaux, before impressive performances for the national team earned him a move to UEFA Champions League holders Juventus in 1996. Zidane enjoyed his time in Turin winning back to back Serie A titles. Zidane continued to perform at international level for France, and in 1998 the FIFA World Cup was hosted in his home nation. Zidane scored two goals in the final, as France coasted to a 3-0 victory over holders Brazil. His performances not only lead France to their first ever World Cup, but also contributed to his Ballon D'Or win later that year. In 2001, Zidane moved from Juventus to Real Madrid, for a then world record of €75 million. As part of the Galacticos era, Zidane won the La Liga, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and Intercontinental cup. Zidane's career crowning moment was his goal against Bayer Leverkusen in the 2001-02 UEFA Champions League Final. It is considered the greatest goal ever scored in the competition due to the level of skill and technique involved, not to mention the importance of the goal. The goal proved to be the winner, as Real Madrid took home their ninth European title.
