For half a century Brazil has cast a golden shadow across football, scooping five World Cup wins and eight South American Championships. Some of the world's greatest footballers have played for the Selecao; the magical names of Pele, Zico, Ronaldo, Falcao, Jairzinho, Rivaldo and others have set the standards that all national teams aspire to and the 1970 Brazil squad that won the Jules Rimet trophy for the third is widely considered the greatest national team of all time. England may have invented football, but Brazil perfected it.
