Ian Wright
Ian Wright
At the age of 21 Ian Wright made a relatively late start to professional football but he soon went about making up for lost time - becoming Crystal Palace's highest scoring post-war player and breaking Arsenal's transfer record with a £2.5m move to Highbury in 1991. After scoring a hat-trick on his debut he soon went on to become the fastest player to reach 100 goals for the North London club. Wright became an Arsenal legend and one of the greatest ever English goalscorers. Wright retired from the game in 2000 and was awarded an MBE for his services to football in 2002.
