"Being a decathlete is like having ten girlfriends. You have to love them all, and you can't afford losing one." These were the words of a truly inspirational character and athlete, the great Daley Thompson. Widely regarded by many as one of the greatest athletes of all time, Thompson went unbeaten in all competitions for nine years and was a four-time Decathlon world record holder and double Olympic champion, winning his first gold in Moscow in 1980. He later retained his title by leading from the first event to the last in Los Angeles in 1984.
