Considered one of the most versatile and dominant players of his time, Kevin Garnett was chosen by the Minnesota Timberwolves as the NBA Draft's fifth overall pick. Such was his immediate impact on the league that by his second season he was chosen to play in the NBA All-Star Game. In 1997, he signed a contract extension that promised him $126 million over six years but by the 2006–2007 season, the Timberwolves' traded him to the Boston Celtics, where he spent some six years.
