John Terry

"Captain, Leader, Legend" reads a simple banner, draped over the advertising boards of the Matthew Harding Stand at Stamford Bridge. The banner says it all. One of Chelsea's most adored and celebrated players, John Terry became a staple of the Premier League giants from the moment he broke into the first team at the turn of the millennium. Taking the armband from fellow Chelsea icon Marcel Desailly, Terry was the Players' Player of the Year the season the Blues dominated the Premier League in record-breaking fashion in 2004-05. Further glory would soon follow as Chelsea began to rack up the trophies with "JT" a rock at the back. Terry also played no small part in the club's first ever UEFA Champions League triumph as well as a UEFA Europa League title a year later. Departing Stamford Bridge for Aston Villa to much acclaim in 2017, there can be no doubt over Terry's huge influence on Chelsea and the wider English game.
