Lothar Matthaus

Lothar Matthaus
Lothar Matthäus is one of the most decorated German players of all time having won seven Bundesligas, a Serie A, the 1990 World Cup, the 1980 European Championships and even an MLS Eastern Division Championship, to name just a few of his major titles. Matthäus captained West Germany to the World Cup title in 1990, and was rightly voted the first ever FIFA World Player of the Year. He was and still is the only German to have won the award. Matthäus has played in more World Cup finals games than any other outfield player. His record stands at 25 having played in five World Cups (two with West Germany and three with Germany). He is also the most capped German player of all time with 150 caps. Often described as the complete player, Matthäus was reknowned for his passing, tackling, positioning, and his powerful shooting.
