The number one overall pick in the NFL Draft doesn't always live up to his billing. In fact, the first pick in the draft is often fraught with the pressure of delivering on the potential they showed in their college years. Failing to live up to the hype is an occupational hazard. But there were no such problems for the number one pick of the 1998 draft. Peyton Manning had been a star quarterback at the University of Tennessee and, along with his brother Eli, promised to become one of the best signal callers the NFL had ever seen. Eighteen years on, Manning retired a two-time Super Bowl champion, holding the records for most touchdown passes, most career wins as a starting quarterback and most passing yards in League history, among various others. Riding off into the sunset with a Lombardi in hand, a bust in the Pro Football Hall of Fame is surely next up for this legendary QB.
