Roberto Duran

Roberto Duran
Nicknamed ‘Hands of Stone', Roberto Duran was perhaps best known for his extraordinary ability to strike fear into his supposedly unflinching opponents. Former world heavyweight champion Joe Frazier, for example, once remarked that Duran reminded him of Charles Manson. The Panama born boxer fought in 119 professional contests across a storied career, winning 103, 70 of which came by knockout. He won titles in four different weight classes and fought through five decades. He was 50-years-old when he stepped into the ring for the last time. A legend of the sport, it's not hard to see why Duran is so beloved in Central and South America, much less the wider world.
