Michael Vaughan Signed Photo: Kissing The Ashes Urn
Personally signed by Michael Vaughan
This superb photograph was signed by Michael Vaughan on October 20, 2009 in Leeds. It shows him kissing the Ashes urn after he had captained England to their 2005 series victory over Australia. It had been an 18-year wait; not since Mike Gatting's team in 1987 had an England skipper enjoyed similar success.
Vaughan enjoyed a tremendous series, getting the best out of the likes of Andrew Flintoff and Marcus Trescothick, while backing the previously untried Kevin Pietersen to succeed at the highest level.
After probably the greatest ever Test series held on these shores, and possibly the greatest Test series of all time, Vaughan's men finally triumphed 2-1. The Australians had taken the lead at Lord's, but a thrilling two-run victory at Edgbaston turned the tide back in England's favour. A draw at an electric Old Trafford was followed by an England victory at Trent Bridge.
England needed to draw or win in the final test at the Oval, and going into the fifth and final day, the match could still have gone either way. An explosive 156 from Pietersen secured victory for England - and the 2005 Ashes series was won.
This photo is 16 inches by 12 inches in size and comes with a certificate of authenticity showing Vaughan signing.
