With 13 First Division and Premier League titles and ten FA Cups to their name Arsenal FC are one of the most successful sides in the history of English football. Their story of success all began in 1925 when Herbert Chapman took control of the club. They won their first piece of silverware when he guided them to an FA Cup Final against Huddersfield Town in 1930 and, in the following season, the league title was theirs for the first time. They went on to win a further four league championship titles and another FA Cup during the 30's.
The Gunners experienced a lean period during the Second World War, winning nothing until Tom Whittaker's management saw the league title return to Highbury twice as well as another FA Cup in the 1949/50 season.
Under the guidance of Bertie Mee and George Graham, Arsenal enjoyed two more periods of success. But it is in recent years where, under the tutelage of Arsene Wenger, their distinctive brand of football has become some of the most attractive seen in Europe.
Wenger's Arsenal set a national record in the 2002/03 Premiership campaign, remaining unbeaten all season as they won the title and became known as 'The Invincibles'. They also became the first London side to reach a Champions League final in 2005/06, where they eventually lost out to Barcelona.
The Gunners moved to a new stadium in time for the start of the 2006/07 season, after 93 years at Highbury. With it came the biggest sponsorship deal in English football history, with naming rights for the Emirates stadium going for a cool £100million. Although silverware for the Gunners has been thin on the ground recently, with players of the calibre of Cesc Fabregas, Theo Walcott, Robin van Persie and Andrey Arshavin on board, that shouldn't be the case for long.
